A grieving aristocratic family hires a struggling actor to impersonate their missing son to bring peace to their dying matriarch during her final weeks. The actor moves into the sprawling country estate and perfectly mimics the missing heir.
The story explores the corrosive nature of immense wealth and the desperation of living a lie. As the actor digs deeper into the family history to perfect his role he slowly realises the real son did not run away.
The actor thought he was just playing the role of a lifetime but he discovers the real son was murdered by someone currently sitting at the dinner table.
Think Knives Out mixed with a slow-burn psychological thriller.
• Claustrophobic, elegant and deeply paranoid. The tension is in the quiet observations: a locked study door, a strange financial record and the terrifying feeling of being watched by the serving staff.
• The actor must be shown as highly observant but completely out of his depth among the ruthless elite.
