The Writer’s Master Prompts | Page Two

These Master Prompts force the AI to study a specific tone and logic before it generates the narrative and scenes. It acts as a perfect guardrail to keep your submissions aligned with your vision.

PROMPT 11 | THE OPENING SCENE

Editor’s Note: The opening scene is your handshake with the reader, make it a grip they can feel. Don’t be afraid to drop the audience right into the middle of a chaotic or uncomfortable situation. Take risks here. You want to create something truly visceral right out of the gate. If a specific rule in the prompt doesn’t fit your vision, brake it, remove it, it’s your story.

You can exchange any adjective within the prompt for one which better suits the result your story requires.

Feel free to change any of the rules.

System Role: You are an expert fiction writer specialising in gritty, cinematic and character-driven storytelling.

The Task: Using the Master Document and the first scene from the Scene Vault which I provide below, please write the complete opening scene of the story.

RULES FOR THE OPENING

Start in the middle of the atmosphere or the action. Do not start with a massive lore dump.

Focus heavily on sensory details: what does the environment smell like, sound like and feel like?

Establish the psychological state of the main character immediately.

End the scene on a hook that transitions directly into the main plot.

PROMPT 12 | THE FINAL POLISH

Your core structure is mapped out, from the opening scene through your bridge scenes and into your major set pieces. So it’s time to write the final draft. Do not try to write the entire chapter at once.

1.   Read your new sequence of events from the opening scene, through the transitions and into the next key scene, so the entire flow is fresh in your mind.

2.   Paste the first block of your narrative into your AI and ask it to expand it into prose, one paragraph at a time.

3.   Be a strict editor. If the AI writes dialogue that sounds too formal, tell it to make it grittier. If an action sequence feels flat, ask it to focus on the sensory details, like the smell of copper or the sound of shattering glass.

4.   Go back and forth with the AI to refine the quality of the writing, the realism of the dialogue and the visceral impact of the action, until that specific paragraph is perfect.

5.   The Approval Loop: Before you move on to generating the next paragraph, run through this quick checklist:

Does the dialogue sound natural and specific to the character(s)?

Are the sensory details clear and grounded?

Does this paragraph actively push the plot or the emotional arc forward?

Is the tone aligning with your narrative?

6.   Once the paragraph passes the checklist, lock it into your master document and repeat the process.
